Summer's 'Got to Get it' List

It appears that I'm coming over all grown-up and ladylike at the moment, that's if my most coveted items for summer are anything to go by.

There's not a knitted hat or a pair of Vans in sight!

Power to Primark

Recently back from a travelling trip and thus jobless, my shopping budget is leaving little to be desired. Thank the lord for Primark though! I genuinely can't get enough of this season's new collection, not to mention the spot on styling and presentation for the SS'12 lookbook; I'd never have guessed it was the cheap as chips fashion retailer if I hadn't known otherwise.

I've already ticked a few of these beauties off my checklist...

Nailed It: Meadham Kirchhoff x Nail Rocks AW'12

After a number of successful candy-coated seasons, the sheer mention of Meadham Kichhoff instantly brings to mind tales of theatrics and extravagance; tales where Rainbow Bright's younger sister can be found cartwheeling her way through Wonderland in a pair of charm encrusted wedges, probably high on acid. Clearly, if there's one thing guaranteed to leave you with a smile on your face, it's a Meadham Kirchhoff show.

It's the combined imaginations of Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff who we have to thank for bringing such joy to Fashion Week season after season; a design duo continually praised for their dedicated attention to detail, and rightly so. Following last season's cute-as-a-button diamanté embellished nails, AW'12 sees Meadham Kirchhoff's second collaboration with nail art masters, Nail Rocks.

As always, the latest show presented a signature kaleidoscope of whacky colour and the nails were no exception. The follow up collaboration sees a range of colourful and quirky nail wraps ranging from whimsical unicorn and toad stool designs to playfully illustrated eyes, ghouls, cats and fried eggs.

Nail art has been low on the agenda during my travels for all the obvious reasons, but after treating myself to a spot of cuticle therapy in Cambodia not too long ago I'm itching to get my nails did again. For all their fun and imagination, I think it's safe to say that the Kawaii-inspired AW'12 pairing might be just the ticket once I'm home. Keep your eyes peeled for them in Topshop this winter.

Magic Touch: Egyptian Magic Balm

Since jetting away to warmer climates, my poor old skin has been feeling a little neglected; I can safely say that living out of a backpack does nothing for a girl's complexion! A damaging cocktail of long haul flights, sleepless nights on overnight transport and a couple of accidental sunburn incidents has left my skin feeling a little sorry for itself.

Luckily, I've just stumbled upon organic skin care connoisseurs Egyptian Magic. The cult favourite has been keeping skin soft for over twenty years offering a miracle moisturising balm designed to bring neglected complexions back to life. The nourishing cream favoured by the likes of Madonna, Kate Hudson and Lizzy Jagger, cleverly combines six of nature's most powerful ingredients to hydrate and revive sorry skin, especially after a day in the sun.

Now, all I have to do is find somewhere that stocks it in South East Asia...

Fancy Fingers: Chanel's 'Shade Parade'

I've been experiencing a few technical issues of late meaning that I haven't been able to write posts let alone access my blog. I won't bore you with the details, but it's safe to say that the issue was a difficult one to solve when on the other side of the world. Thankfully everything is now in full working order, and after a few weeks of lying low, Marie Tighe is back up and running.

Sticking with the theme of lost time, I've decided to post about a little Chanel-based treat from last year. I only recently came across Chanel's 30 second masterpiece, totally bypassing me at the time of its release in September 2011. I may be a little slow off the mark here, but I thought this too good not to share.

The French fashion house dust of their jazz hands and dance up a storm for the short ad, cleverly promoting the brands range of nail shades for AW'11. Nimble fingers, inspired by Bob Fosse's iconic jazz moves, model current favourites such as 'Black Pearl' and 'Orange Fizz'. The result is a campaign that is creative, engaging and above all else, fun.

A belated welcome to the cabaret, Chanel!
